From the "heroic" harvest, entirely carried out by hand on steep slopes, to the muted colours of autumn. With this issue we take your hand and guide you on a journey to discover the season that embodies the work of a whole year. The journey starts with preparations for the new vintage of Prosecco Superiore, and ends with a full calendar of events – see the Agenda section - related to the election of the area of Conegliano Valdobbiadene as European Wine City.
For the first time this award has gone to a whole territory. It was established in 2012 by Recevin, the European Network of Wine Cities, composed of more than 800 cities in 9 European countries (Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Serbia) all with strong and sound economic ties to winegrowing and located in areas whose wines are covered by the controlled designation of origin quality assurance. The award goes not only to the two capitals of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, but to all 15 municipalities of the historical area - Conegliano, Susegana, San Vendemiano, Colle Umberto, Vittorio Veneto, Tarzo, Cison di Valmarino, Follina, Miane, San Pietro di Feletto, Refrontolo, Pieve di Soligo, Farra di Soligo, Vidor and Valdobbiadene – a demonstration of the union of intent shared by the whole community which is the heartland of Prosecco Superiore.
